To Yokohama Chinatown
Field trip (1st year)
The tour will visit Yokohama Chinatown and receive explanations in Chinese and Japanese from the Yokohama Chinatown Development Association Cooperative Association about facilities representing Chinatown to deepen understanding of China.
Taking the certification test (required)
Students are required to take the Chinese Language Proficiency Test a total of two times during the two-year period, with all students taking Level 3 or above in November of their first year.
Collaborative Education Program" Study Abroad in China
~ Transfer to affiliated universities is also possible~.
The program is affiliated with a university in China, and individual language training is available during spring and summer vacation periods. In addition, students who meet certain criteria can transfer (2nd or 3rd year) after graduation.

My reason for choosing the Chinese course was vague: "I think I can use it for my future job. I was the least able to speak Chinese in my class, but what changed me was a close Chinese friend I met at Kanda Institute of Languages. She helped me many times when I was in trouble, and I wanted to be able to speak Chinese with her. With this in mind, I challenged myself to a Chinese speech contest and obtained Level 3 of the Chinese Language Proficiency Test and Level 4 of the HSK within my first year. At the entrance ceremony, as a representative of the course, I was assigned to give a Chinese speech to the new students. As I became more confident, I was presented with one challenge after another. In the essay contest for Chinese-Japanese university students, in which entries were received from all over Japan, I won the third prize for a Japanese-Chinese essay. The theme of my composition was friendship with my Chinese best friend. My best friend, as well as the teacher who guided me, was so happy that I almost cried. After that, I was selected as the only vocational school student to be a member of the Japan-China Friendship University Student Delegation to China and visited Beijing. We exchanged opinions with local students in English and Chinese about the differences in our cultures and educational systems. I was not good at interacting with people, but I was able to change because I was given many opportunities at Kanda Institute of Languages. When I was a high school student, I was not sure whether I would go on to an affordable university, but I am very glad that I chose Kanda Institute of Languages.

I spend my days negotiating business in Chinese and English at a trading company.
I decided to enter Kanda Institute of Languages because I was attracted by the ability to learn multiple languages in a short period of time. I chose Chinese because China's economic development at that time was remarkable, and I was certain that Chinese would be useful in the business world in the future. My fondest memory is the All-Japan Chinese Speech Contest in Tokyo, which I entered in my second year. I was able to win second place in a competition in which university students and graduate students also participated, which gave me a lot of confidence. My teacher not only corrected my speech, but also listened to recordings of my speeches and gave me advice on pronunciation. I used to be a shy person, but through this contest experience and the short-term study abroad program, I became able to speak openly in front of people without fear of making mistakes I think my communication skills have grown the most over the past two years. After graduation, I studied abroad at a university in Shanghai for one year. My teachers consulted with me daily about my choice of study abroad destination and subsequent career path, which was very encouraging. After returning to Japan, I found a job at a global logistics company and am now working at a trading company run by a Chinese president. Although I work in Japan, the majority of the employees are Chinese. I work in Chinese and English on a daily basis. My business partners often praise my pronunciation because of my studies at Kanda Institute of Languages. I am now benefiting from the intensive instruction I received in my first year in pronunciation, which is the key to learning Chinese. In the future, I would like to use my language skills to start a business and contribute to the economic development of Japan and China.
