MORE

The Corona Disaster has revealed that Japan is lagging behind in its digital response. But IT is evolving rapidly. The goal of the DC Department is to nurture human resources who can use digital tools as communication tools. The DC Department aims to develop human resources who can use digital tools as communication tools. In the DC Department, students will first understand the "behind the scenes" (structure) of websites and SNS, and learn what kind of information "reaches" a wide audience through these tools. Students also acquire digital skills such as customer analysis using analytical tools and visual expression techniques, and learn how to effectively "deliver" information. The goal is for all students to obtain the IT Passport, a national examination. Although it has been a long time since the term "global society" was coined, the Internet has no national borders. The IT + English skills you acquire will greatly expand your field of activity.

We want to pursue what we love and share it with the world.

What kind of communication takes advantage of the features of digital technology? Now that the set rules of the analog age are no longer applicable in the business world, regardless of industry or occupation, there is a demand for thinking and skills that allow one to effectively use digital technology and information, and to make decisions and take actions from multiple perspectives. The Department of Digital Communication is not simply a department for acquiring digital skills. Students learn how to utilize the characteristics of digital technology as a communication tool.
In the course "Diversity Communication," which I supervise, students learn how to communicate in a way that takes diversity and inclusion into consideration, questioning the conventional majority-centered society. In today's world, entering society without this D&I awareness can be a major risk.
In addition, in the class "SNS Research through Cutting-edge Case Studies," students will consider how to utilize SNS, which you are familiar with, for business. Inviting marketing managers from corporations and local governments, as well as influencers who are active on the front lines, students will learn about the characteristics of SNS and how they are utilized in the business scene.
The Department of Digital Communication welcomes those who have a desire to pursue what they love, express themselves, and communicate with the world. We are confident that your studies in this department will greatly expand your future possibilities.

MORE

I am a product manager for iOS app development at Rakuten TV, a video streaming service. My job is to determine what features should be added to the app in the future and how it should be improved. After graduating from Kanda Institute of Foreign Languages, I worked for domestic and international companies engaged in digital content distribution before joining Rakuten Group in 2020. In my current job, which has a marketing component, knowledge of data analysis and analysis is essential. I learned while being taught by my seniors in the field, but if you are going to work in the IT industry, I think it will be an advantage to acquire the knowledge to handle quantitative and qualitative data while you are still a student.
The product manager is like a hub that facilitates coordination with engineers and requires good communication skills. There are many foreign nationals on the team, and communication is in English. I obtained a TOEIC? score of 920 when I was a student, but I sometimes feel that I am not strong enough in the business aspect. However, I can say that what I learned as a student was worthwhile in terms of developing my base English skills. The knowledge and experience I gained in the Department of Digital Communication will surely be useful in whatever position I work in the future.
